Life and Friends in Playa Coco

Colorful characters continue to spin their threads in a well done tapestry we call life. I made two very cool Rasta friends who are local surfers. We talked many times as they took to the waves. At the end of a very long beach there is a waterfall and stream and its there where I chill. Some places are meant only for memories, the people in Costa Rica are the nicest and coolest people I ever met. Costa Rica is all about democracy and being happy and I can't help but to feel it daily.

Another friend, Dr. Nick Sheffer, became an amazing source of knowledge and lore on nutrition and Coco. He ironically is a chiropractor. I didn't get a picture strangely but he is very cool and has been our local guide. One day last week he took Kelly and I, along with a family from Texas, to Playa Hermosa in his Mercedes. Along the way we passed the founders of AOL's property which is worth 14 million dollars. Costa Rica threatened to nationalize the property which resulted in it not being developed. On the other side is Playe Hermosa, a spectacular pink beach!
Others days we wander to places such as Playa Ocotal. Here we can skip rocks in between waves and watch schools of fish. Restaurants such as Father Rooster are scattered around the beach. Guacamole potato skins any one?
This last picture is in respect to Jehovah and derives from the Kabbalah. I sometimes find myself drawing and tapping into the symbols on our wedding rings.

Fish that jump and walk on land.

Other nights we eat pizza in our little square as we sip coca cola.
This is truly my best summer. Kelly and I decided that when Cecelia is 18 we will be making a life in both America and Costa Rica. Tomorrow we are leaving to the Caribbean and will be hiking up a real active volcano. Lava is supposed to flow near the hotel in a controlled fashion.

Friends in Tamarindo

Saying bye to good friends in never easy.  Almost every day I walked down to the beach to focus and balance.  On the way I would say hola to these friends.  The first is Joseph. Joseph owns a souvenir craft shop and loves soccer. His family offered Kelly and I a place to live near Gardenia for $400 a month. In the future I might stay there. He is married and they have a large family and many small dogs. His son won a soccer cup on our last day.
Chris is another great friend who I found myself having a few drinks with. The place he works for can give anyone a nice excursion in Tamarindo.
I will be revisiting Tamarindo in the future.

Chapter IV: Das Palmas, Playa Coco

Tamarindo's story has come to an end.  A new journey unfolds as the newly wed couple starts chapter four in Playa Coco.  Our new place is a condo in a very well kept sub division.  We have all modern amenities and no bugs.  The sub division consists of many development agencies and has armed guards on every block.  Its very quiet and maintained.  We have our own market.
The subdivision goes on for many blocks and there are sporadic botanical gardens throughout the area.
Playa Coco is not that impressive for its full of garbage.  However its surrounded by three other beaches which are clean.  The people are not the same as we met in Tamarindo.  Not much music and the people appear to be gloomy.  It feels safe enough and many families and children are around.  Its 100% third world.

We ate an American meal while watching the sunset at a restaurant called Beach Bum.  Music played as people were given free salsa lessons. The next day we wandered up the coast and crossed some very poorly built wooden bridges as we searched out a nicer beach.  After many miles we found Playa Blanka.
Locals gather mussels and a variety of sea food for their families.  Kelley's hands are slowly progressing, she has gained flexibility and movement. Due to recent circumstances excursions will have to be done in a future trip. Its to bad that Cecelia hates traveling for we keep finding our selves with extra rooms and youth all around.
As this is my twentieth country, I am pleased with the experience.
