Arenal Volcano

During our cross country trip we stayed at Arenal Lodge too see volcano's and Red eyed tree frogs. We encountered so much more, this was easily our best adventure in Costa Rica.

Upon arrival we were showered with Strawberry Daiquiris and greeted by Brazilian Macaws.
Our room was breathtaking, on the patio you could see the jungle, ponds and the volcano. We did not see lava due to fog but we did see Red Eye Tree frogs and Toucans.
We quickly dropped of our belongings and hiked miles into the jungle. Along the way we crossed rivers and found a butterfly sanctuary with Blue Morpho's.
We had to watch out for snakes, crocodiles and poisonous spiders. Unlike the rain forest all the brush and plants are on the ground. It was dark and very dense.
Sloths were in the trees. We decided to head back to enjoy the volcano and garden with frogs for there was only three hours left in the day and we did not want to be lost in the jungle.

We ended the day with dinner near the pool over looking Arenal Volcano.
Frogs came up to our door and said good night.
Five stars to the hotel and its staff and its ecological attitude towards the land.
Next stop will be our Jungle house in Playa Chiquita where Kelly gets her Jacuzzi.
